Welcome to Berlin #2

CW 08/2021

Join us on our Sunday walk from Potsdamer Platz to the Berlin Stadtschloss.

RED CARPET TIME in Berlin!
Berlinale 2021 is just around the corner, but no red carpet will be rolled out on Potsdamer Platz this march. In times of the pandemic the Berlinale will be split into the “Industry Event“, March 1st until March 5th, where former winners of the Bear will decide about who to give the next ones to. During this time you can stream the Berlinale Talents´ events live and for free.

From June 9th until 20th the major part of the award-winning movies will be shown to the public in Berlin´s cinemas in the presence of the filmmakers.
For those, who don´t want to miss this unique opportunity of experiencing the Berlinale in Summertime, we reccomend the BERLINALE SPEZIALE Red Carpet package.

Passing Tiergarten we now head towards the Brandenburger Tor, once the border between West and East it is nowadays a memorial of the German reunification. 1000 meters farther north, a building complex is currently becoming a memorial of today, the Charité hospital and its Institute for Virology.

"Unter den Linden", we are discovering some hidden symbols that stand for the challenges of our time with a wink. "I love your life" is written on the sticker of the second photo.

We are moving on to the East and the Museumsinsel.
Since July 2019 the James-Simon-Gallery is accessible for the public as the museums´ entrance and visitor centre, where 1.1 million guests have been welcomed already.
At the moment many museums and their exhibitions can only be visited virtually, but it is definitely worth it!

Here come some of our favourites:
Pergamon
Virtual tour to James-Simon-Gallery and the roundtrip „Ancient architecture“, also including the famous Pergamon Altar.
Neues Museum
Various digital tours to online-exhibitions like „Audience with Nofretete“
Bode Museum
Easy to handle virtual tour to all the museum´s treasures

Passing the Berlin Cathedral, we walk towards the Humboldt Forum in the splendidly newly built Berlin "Stadtschloss". Here, there is the opportunity to visit the impressive premises digitally in advance, too.

We are still enjoying the last rays of sunshine and are having a look on the streetart at Hackescher Markt.
