Welcome to Berlin #25

CW 44/2021

Autumn is painting the city in its most beautiful colours at the moment. But if we need a little relaxation, we prefer some indoor places we would like to present to you today.

The first thing coming to our mind in this context would be our very own Lazy Sunday at Orania.Breakfast Club. Sunday, 28 November, will be the next possibility to get to know the youngest member of Orania.Berlin. Lazy Sunday combines eight courses of Philipp Vogel´s latest creations with corresponding beverages by Breakfast Club Manager Isabel Espinoza as well as fabulous live music - a perfect end of the week. We highly and happily recommend booking your table in advance (+49 30 695 396 80).

But now, let´s see where else we can find some quiet in Berlin and focus on the one thing we cannot offer you: SPA, sauna and wellness in its common meaning (of course we would usually visit our sister hotel Schloss Elmau for this. It´s just a bit far for one afternoon…).

Let us start right in the heart of Berlin and visit Aspria Ku´damm. No less than six floors of fitness classrooms, pools and relaxing saunas make the decision of where to start hard for us. But we can recover from our efforts on the beautiful terrace and have a bit of fresh air (© Photo: Reichert+Communications).

At Liquidrom on street Möckernstraße - which is just a little walk away from Orania.Berlin, by the way - decisions are easier to make. We just have to visit the thermal salt water pool underneath the great dome and enjoy the music and the dancing lights that make this place stunningly incomparable (©Photo: Liquidrom Berlin).

For the next item on the agenda we have to disappoint our male readers - sorry, gentlemen! But as we are in our neighbourhood already, it is our female duty to visit Hamam Berlin at Frauenzentrum Schokoladenfabrik (eng.: women´s centre in the chocolate factory). As all hobby Holmeses among you will have guessed by now, only women are allowed in Germany´s first Hamam (founded in 1988). But gentlemen, don´t worry: while the ladies are relaxing here, you could just visit us for a Ruby Chocolate at Breakfast Club. We are just a five minute walk away from the turkish bath (©Photo: Hamam Berlin).

For those who would rather go for a swim or warm up in the sauna, Stadtbad Neukölln would be a nice alternative. The neoclassical building resembles antique thermal baths - a hightlight of 1914´s architecture.

An oriental Hamam for all genders can be found at Befine Spa of Hotel Titanic Chaussee in the district of Mitte. The combination of pool, steam bath, gym and a great variety of treatments and massages make it easy for us to take our hat off to our colleague Titanic. (©Photo: Titanic Hotels 2021)

Vabali is without any doubt the absolute classic and all-time favourite among Berlin´s SPAs. Just 500 metres away from central station hardly sounds like a place to find some peace to those who have not been here yet. But you can really quickly dive into a completely different and quiet world of Balinese architecture and relaxing atmosphere. And we can even dive into the indoor and outdoor pools whenever we fancy a change after having discovered some of the ten marvelous saunas. And on top of it all we can have quite a nice dinner at the restaurant, too. (©Photo: Vabali Berlin)

Last, but definitely not least, we have discovered something very special. Or have you already been to a sauna floating on a river? Saunafloß Havelsauna offers enough space for up to six persons who would like a raft to take them to Potsdam and Berlin while chilling out in the heat. Cooling down in the river Havel might bring some variety in your wellness schedule, as well.
But now we really miss home. And today´s concert starts at 9, so we really should go. But - why don´t you just join us? (©Photo: Havelsauna Saunafloß, Picture below: Fridolin Full)
