Sounds of the City

Jazz is urban music. It was born in the streets of New Orleans, grew up in the clubs of Harlem, and continues to be reinvented - in London and Paris, Lagos and Tokyo. In his new solo program, Johannes von Ballestrem takes these cities as starting points. The Berlin-based pianist, a frequent guest on international stages, plays music that reflects the sound, rhythm, and history of urban life. Sounds of the City is his personal view of places where jazz is alive.
