Tribute to Oscar Peterson

This program is dedicated to the legendary pianist Oscar Peterson, one of the most significant figures in jazz history. Few musicians have combined technical virtuosity with musical elegance and effortless lightness in the way Peterson did. His recordings with artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Ray Brown, and Joe Pass remain milestones of jazz history and continue to inspire musicians worldwide.

The concert program features selected compositions and arrangements from Peterson’s extensive repertoire, including classics such as “Hymn to Freedom,” “Night Train,” and “Satin Doll.”

The Kenneth Berkel Trio, featuring Kenneth Berkel (piano), Hendrik Nehls (double bass), and Dexter Stanley-Tauvao (drums), has been performing together since 2021. The trio regularly explores the music of Oscar Peterson as well as the repertoire of the Ray Brown Trio, interpreting it with great energy, joy of playing, and a distinct musical voice.

Expect an evening full of energy, virtuosity, and swing – a tribute to an artist whose music has lost none of its brilliance and appeal decades after its creation.
