Colorful ballads and blues for the soul
The focus of Larry Porter’s current program is to explore two of his favorite music forms, ballads and blues. The repertoire features both standards and original compositions. Larry will present traditional blues numbers such as Robert Johnson’s “Love In Vain” from the 1930s as well as jazz blues like “Blue Monk”. He will cover beautiful ballads from the American Songbook such as “My Old Flame” and “What A Wonderful World”.
His own tunes reflect a love for the tradition but with an original twist, like in his stride piece “Orania Blues” or his intriguing “Musings Of A Wistful Poet”. All in all a colorful and captivating evening of solo piano.
