Step into an evening of Deep-Fried Contemporary Soul-Jazz as the Matti Klein Soul Trio takes center stage—joined on this occasion by a special guest set from renowned OCTUPONE.

Matti Klein Soul Trio
What is soul? A rousing style of music, say some. A stunning feeling, say others. It unmistakably defines who we are, according to the dictionaries. Each of these definitions applies to the Matti Klein Soul Trio, but the latter describes the essence of the trio, which was founded in 2017 and has played well over 300 concerts all over the world since then, particularly well.

Indeed, the Matti Klein Soul Trio brings together three like-minded soul mates in the name of groove, who forge an independent trail beyond the much-travelled paths of Hammond organ trios. The warm Wurlitzer sounds of band leader Matti Klein, who has already graced the most important jazz clubs in New York, Tokyo, London, and Paris with the funk-jazz formation Mo' Blow and the Brazilian yacht-pop heavyweight Ed Motta, are at the centre of the sound.

The comforting low notes of a 1973 Fender Rhodes piano bass are a unique feature of the group, as is the tasteful use of sound effects by Lars Dieterich on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet. The elastic playing of drummer André Seidel ensures that the trio's other specialty, their unabashed passion for odd meters, literally doesn’t feel so odd at all.

OCTUPONE
The man, the myth, and his musical moods — A true connoisseur and timeless collector of grooves with an eclectic and encyclopedic (perhaps even biblical) knowledge, the DJ known as Octupone has been crafting his melting pot of sounds and textures through emotionally charged sets for over three decades. Drawing on everything from deep and soulful house to R&B and disco, Octupone has spun his web of wicked tunes across the globe: from Soulkitchen and the Golden Pudel Club in his hometown of Hamburg to Bar Tausend, Jackie O, and the ECHO Awards (Germany’s Grammys) in Berlin; from Rio de Janeiro to Tulum, Paris, Scorpios Mykonos, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Since 2016, he has held residency as DJ, Music Consultant, and Supervisor at La Granja Ibiza, where he explores his love for organic house, folktronica, slow house, and disco-infused sounds. Currently, he performs regularly at Berlin’s new hotspot, Social Art Club 11:11, and since 2023, he’s also a resident DJ at the Jungle House at Thailand’s renowned Wonderfruit Festival. He rarely repeats and never ceases to amaze.
