SUMMARY:Matti Klein Soul Trio supported by OCTUPONE
DESCRIPTION:Step into an evening of Deep-Fried Contemporary Soul-Jazz as t
he Matti Klein Soul Trio takes center stage—joined on this occasion by a
special guest set from renowned OCTUPONE.\nMatti Klein Soul TrioWhat is s
oul? A rousing style of music\, say some. A stunning feeling\, say others.
It unmistakably defines who we are\, according to the dictionaries. Each
of these definitions applies to the Matti Klein Soul Trio\, but the latter
describes the essence of the trio\, which was founded in 2017 and has pla
yed well over 300 concerts all over the world since then\, particularly we
ll.\nIndeed\, the Matti Klein Soul Trio brings together three like-minded
soul mates in the name of groove\, who forge an independent trail beyond t
he much-travelled paths of Hammond organ trios. The warm Wurlitzer sounds
of band leader Matti Klein\, who has already graced the most important jaz
z clubs in New York\, Tokyo\, London\, and Paris with the funk-jazz format
ion Mo' Blow and the Brazilian yacht-pop heavyweight Ed Motta\, are at the
centre of the sound.\nThe comforting low notes of a 1973 Fender Rhodes pi
ano bass are a unique feature of the group\, as is the tasteful use of sou
nd effects by Lars Dieterich on tenor saxophone and bass clarinet. The ela
stic playing of drummer André Seidel ensures that the trio's other specia
lty\, their unabashed passion for odd meters\, literally doesn’t feel so
odd at all.\nOCTUPONEThe man\, the myth\, and his musical moods — A tru
e connoisseur and timeless collector of grooves with an eclectic and encyc
lopedic (perhaps even biblical) knowledge\, the DJ known as Octupone has b
een crafting his melting pot of sounds and textures through emotionally ch
arged sets for over three decades. Drawing on everything from deep and sou
lful house to R&B and disco\, Octupone has spun his web of wicked tunes ac
ross the globe: from Soulkitchen and the Golden Pudel Club in his hometown
of Hamburg to Bar Tausend\, Jackie O\, and the ECHO Awards (Germany’s G
rammys) in Berlin\; from Rio de Janeiro to Tulum\, Paris\, Scorpios Mykono
s\, Tokyo\, and Hong Kong. Since 2016\, he has held residency as DJ\, Musi
c Consultant\, and Supervisor at La Granja Ibiza\, where he explores his l
ove for organic house\, folktronica\, slow house\, and disco-infused sound
 s. Currently\, he performs regularly at Berlin’s new hotspot\, Social Ar
t Club 11:11\, and since 2023\, he’s also a resident DJ at the Jungle Ho
use at Thailand’s renowned Wonderfruit Festival. He rarely repeats and n
ever ceases to amaze.\nLine-Up\nMatti Klein – wurlitzer\, rhodes bassLar
