South America offers a wealth of captivating dances and rhythms. Embedded in beautiful melodies, it creates an almost inexhaustible repertoire of songs.
Tino Derado, who lives in Europe and has a particular affinity for the romantic elements of the classical repertoire, is deeply influenced by both worlds. You can experience this unique blend live at Orania. Derado studied at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston and the New School for Music in New York. During his 13 years in the USA, he established himself as a sought-after musician in the jazz and Latin scenes.
He has shared the stage with greats such as Gary Burton, Peter Erskine, Bob Moses, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans, Paul Winter, Dave Liebman, Adam Nussbaum, Jimmy Cliff, Frank Gambale, Take 6, Jamey Haddad, Chiara Civello, Richard Bona, Matthew Garrison, Joe Chambers, Ernie Watts, Nils Landgren, Jojo Meyer, Papo Vasquez, Orlando Marin y Su Orchestra, Andy Gonzales, Fernando Tarres (Argentina), Corina Bartra (Peru), Chanquito (Cuba), and Fred Hersch.
Since returning to Germany, he has performed with various bands, including Andy Middleton, Ernie Watts, Rebekka Bakken, Till Brönner, Peter Weniger, Ulita Knaus, Diego Pinera, Billy Hart, and the NDR Bigband. As a bandleader, he has released nine albums.
Since 2009, he has been a lecturer at the HDK and UDK in Berlin, where he lives with his family. In 2014, he accepted a professorship at the University of Hanover, where he continues to share his passion for music.
