A place whit heart and history - from the Oranienpalast to the Grand Hotel

Orania.History

Our building, originally constructed as an office, has survived two world wars without major damage. Built in 1912, it housed the Café Oranienpalast on the ground floor for the first 12 years, where concerts and cabarets were held under the management of Oscar Barton. Later, the building was used for various purposes, including a venue for readings and cabaret performances, a department store, grocery store, and nightclub—until the business lawyer Dietrich von Bötticher acquired the property in 2008 and commissioned his business partner, hotelier Dietmar Müller-Elmau, to develop a hotel concept.

Since its opening in 2017, the house has been run with great heart and personality by Jennifer and Philipp Vogel. The internationally experienced hotelier and former Michelin-starred chef have turned Orania.Berlin into a place that offers all the advantages of a grand hotel but stands out due to its local character and equally individual and personal service compared to many classical establishments.

Stiff etiquette is avoided at Orania.Berlin—instead, we embrace the motto: “We are serious, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.” So, if you’re looking for more personality, authenticity, and neighborhood character while not wanting to forgo classical luxury, Orania.Berlin is the right choice.
